There are still a few great day-trips and courses planned with this organisation based in Pescocostanzo before the end of the season. We thought you might particularly like to know about the introductory course in Nordic Walking being held on the 21st of September. Nordic Walking is a popular past-time here in Abruzzo but it has a special technique and you do need some basic equipment so a short course for beginners is probably a good idea. The Maria Caniglia International Opera Competition, now in its 30th year, is a firm favourite on the annual calendar of events here in Sulmona. The competition attracts entrants from all over the world and this year we have competitors not  only from Italy but also from Moldavia, China, Japan, France, Poland, Canada, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and South Korea.  The various elimination rounds are today, tomorrow and Wednesday, the semis are on Thursday and Friday and the finals on Saturday the 15th of September. The early rounds are held in the auditorium of the Annunziata and the final will take place in the Cinema Pacifico on Via Roma.  In case you didn't already know, Maria Caniglia was one of Italy's leading Sopranos from the 1930s and 1940s.
